Now the sons of Reuben the firstborn of Israel, (for he was the firstborn; but forasmuch as he defiled his father' s bed, his birthright was given unto the sons of Joseph the son of Israel: and the genealogy is not to be reckoned after the birthright.

Ary ny zanakalahin' i Robena, lahimatoan' Isiraely (fa izy no lahimatoa; saingy ny nandotoany ny farafaran-drainy no nanomezana ny fizokiany ho an' ny zanak' i Josefa, zanak' Isiraely; nefa tsy voasoratra ho zokiny amin' ny fitantaram-pirazanana ireo;

Zanakalahin-dRobena lahimatoan' Israely. Fa izy no lahimatoa, saingy noho izy nandoto ny farafaran-drainy, dia nomena ny zanak' i Josefa zanak' Israely, ny fizokiany; tsy dia nosoratana ho zokiny amin' ny tetiaram-pirazanana anefa Josefa.

Fils de Ruben, premier-né d' Israël. Il était en effet le premier-né; mais quand il eut violé la couche de son père, son droit d' aînesse fut donné aux fils de Joseph, fils d' Israël, et il ne fut plus compté comme aîné.
